12/12 challenge - November and December 2008

I'm a bit behind with my 12/12 lay-outs. As I have been taking the pictures every month, it's the designing-a-lay-out-thing that has been hard to follow up on. I have finally finished the lay-outs for November and December 2008, so here they are. I particularly love the December one. The splash of black paint make the photos pop and I found the perfect use for the sticker left over thingie (there used to be circle stickers where the photos now are and the red frame is the leftover from that sticker sheet). It's hard to spot, but the black paint is actually on a white background sheet. Now all I have to do, is make the January 2009 lay-out as well.....

Bad blogger...

Talk about bad blogger...me, I mean... Sorry, folks! I'm still fighting the flu, and so is Lotte and probably a huge part of the population out there. But, since I am doing better, I thought I could show one of my christmas present projects last year. I loved making these little pouches to keep little this-and-thats. Easy to make and really cute. LOVE those fabrics! All the nieces and nephews in the family got one each. And they found the perfect use for it right away; as a holder for their new i-pods and accessories. I'd love to hear if this is something you'd be interested in purchasing, as I am considering to make up a few and sell through Etsy or something. Let me know if you could be interested.

ScrappeMania and the first word of the year

We are ready for another challenge at ScrappeMania and our first word of 2009. The word is "Magisk"/Magical, so be prepared to get enchanted by all the great inspirational lay-outs the girls have put together. My LO is called "a magic moment" and is about the magic of sparklers on New Years Eve. The pictures are from this years New Year celebration in Switzerland and show Mats, Jonas and the twins Leticia and Anna Sophia, totally mesmerized by the magic sticks. I really miss my favorite lens, the canon 50 mm, 1,4f, that is beeing repared at the moment. The pictures just doesn't get as sharp as I want them to....
I used some older Basic Grey papers, Snowfall Ice blue (Dasher) and Festive (Figgy Pudding), some felt stars, thickers, MM tiny alphas white and a piece of lace that I painted red. The frame I cut out of cardstock and painted red. Then I painted with red glitter paint on the frame and the thickers.
Have a nice sunday!

The boys' room....

..I told you I'd been busy... So, this is the new lay-out of the boys' bedroom. Two new, very cool and practical beds bought at our favorite Swedish store. Both can be transformed into double beds, so the next time we get visitors we will tuck them in here and move the boys around, so I won't have to clean up my scraproom (which also serves as a guest room..) lol. Anyway, boys are happy, dad is happy, mom is happy....now, moving on to the next project....

Lotus Paperie

...ever heard of them?? It's a really great challenge blog with a fun new challenge every month. The founder, Vanessa Falle, asked me to be their guest designer in February, so watch out for some fun challenges next month... Also watch out for a cool "One little word" challenge on January 25th on ScrappeMania.

Last week I made this valentine card for the basic grey valentine card contest. I used papers from the "Sugared" paper pad collection, crepe paper and an old chatterbox wooden tag (still love them....anybody else out there got them???)

Re-organizing...

Hello?? I'm still here...just droppin' by to say I'm busy, busy, busy. Trying to re-organize my house and life, making it simpler and more effective. We're taking one room at a time, starting with the boy's room and bought them new beds. Looks great! I'll show some pictures later this week. Simultaneously I am cleaning and re-organizing my scraproom, and oh, that is SO much more work. If I ever finish that project, I will take pictures and show, but I'll promise nothing, ha, ha.

Last week piale gave me this award:

..and this one from Lene Thank you, both of you! I am very honored every time someone pass me an award. And I am such a bad "on-passer"....the time...., but to honor all my new design team mates I pass the first award to my Mania colleagues: Camilla, Tone, Anita, Kristina, Renee, Heidi, Kathrine, Mi@, Kine and Brita.

Edit:I just spent half an hour to link to every body's blog and then something happened and all the links where gone. Iiiiik! Not happy! Sorry, but I do not have time to do that again.

The second award I pass on to the complete Papirgleder team. So many talented ladies! I'm off to clean up my space....

My COOLEST experience ever....

...with emphasis on "cool". I was called to Zurich, Switzerland, for a surprise party for my good friend Elins fortiest birthday this weekend. Her husband told us to buy the plane ticket, he would take care of the rest. And boy did he. He told us to bring warm clothes, two caps, wool underwear, a flashlight, sunglasses, a swimsuit and a backpack. Hmmm, little did we know, what he'd been up to, he, he. So after a really good, Swiss brunch on Saturday morning with friends dropping in at exactly 10 am (all at the same time - the Swiss must be the most punctual people in the world, ha, ha), Stephan told us to start dressing and packing for cold weather. Elin was handed an envelope with instructions on what to pack.

Off we went, 5 Norwegian girls with warm clothes and backpacks, Siw, Marit, Grethe, Elin and me, off to what turned out to be Engelberg, an idyllic little place in the Alps. Just outside the gondola that would go all the way up to Mount Titlis, Elin was handed out two more envelopes, the first contained money for the tickets the second one information on where to get out and where to go to. As we opened the third envelope, all 5 of us sitting in the gondola and ready to go, we read the last instructions and realized we were going to stay the night in an igloo . No doubt, this was a once in a lifetime experience, and you don't have to ask; it was cold, but oh so awesome and absolutely unforgettable. It was even a full moon night and the sky was crystal clear. We were served glühwein when we arrived and for dinner we had delicious cheese fondue. We went for a one hour guided snow shoe walk (in the moonshine of course) and ended the night with a bottle of champagne and a bath in the whirlpool. After having that bath we were warmed up and ready to jump into our sleeping bags and spend the night sleeping with our caps on. Actually the only place I felt cold during the night was on my nose. I'm sure it was red as a Rudolf. Our swimsuites where all stiff and icy when we woke up....

The next morning we had breakfast in a restaurant nearby (indoor!!!) with the most beautiful view of the Alps. Wow! We took the gondola all the way up to Mount Titlis at 3020 m and enjoyed the most amazing view. It was absolutely stunning. Something to remember for the rest our lifes. Thank you Stephan for arranging this and giving us the time of our lives!!!! Experiencing this also made us appreciate a warm shower, our warm beds, our warm toilets SO much more, he, he.

Unfortunately, stupid me managed to forget my camera at Elins house and now have to wait patiently for her to send it to me. These pictures are from Elins camera, but edited by me...

all 5 of us at 3020 m!!! The picture is actually a result of me and my PSE (photoshop elements). The picture of us is cut out of an ugly background and pasted into the beautiful view...he, he....
Here's Marit, Grethe and Siw in the gondola
and here's Elin and me in the gondola, all exited to go....
Glühwein in the igloo bar. Cosy isn't it?
And this is the man who made it all happen; Stephan, "the man of the weekend" (quite a ladies man too.....look at that grin!)

ScRapp #1 2009 at ScrappeMania

Lots of firsts today. First mania-challenge of the year, first scRapp of the year, my first lay-out of the year, my first ever creation as a DT member at ScrappeMania and my first ever project using a clothes hanger. We have hi-jacked Anne Kristine's awesome calendar this week. I used my Scarlet Lime october project kit to make a door hanger to welcome our visitors. I used an old wire clothes hanger and two IKEA clips to hold the lo. I took a strip of lace and glued it on a strip of cardboard and connected it to the LO with wire rings. Then I threaded some pieces of wire with beads and buttons (all included in the kit) and attached them to the lace. It was quite hard to photograph the lo in one piece showing all the little details, so I attached some close ups. Check out Anne Kristines calendar and the cool stuff the other maniagirls did on the blog.

Cold days..

It's cold in the Netherlands these days. It's actually the first winter in 12 (!!!) years that you can go skating on the canals and lakes. The Dutch are in a skating fever and all shops are sold out of skates. Mats' school decided to take half a day off to go skating together. Talk about having fun....Mats was playing "hockey" with his buddies.

The first day of the year...

...and what a day it was!!!! After spending christmas in Germany with my husbands family, we headed for Zürich, Switzerland, to visit and celebrate the new year with our good friends Andi, Nathalie and their adorable and über-cute twin daughters Leticia and Sophia. On new years eve it started snowing and on January 1st we woke up to the most perfect sunny weather you can imagine. A 20 minute ride took us up to the nearest ski area and we spent the day sliding and really enjoying ourselves. This was quite special for us, living in "the land without hills and snow" and boy did Jonas and Mats enjoy it! They worked up quite a speed and with absolutely no sence of fear. The pictures tells the rest...

Till and Jonas.....
